After working on the comic book for several months, the first Devil Bat adventure is here: THE DEVIL BAT STRIKES! Artist/writer/creator Vance Capley is pleased, “I wouldn’t say pleased, but I am happy that it’s done. Writing, drawing, and lettering the book myself was a heavy task. It looks good, reads well, and to the folks I showed, the story works and they wanted more. That’s a plus.”

The Devil Bat is Sgt. Anthony James Blaine. After the Battle of Baghdad, he saw something that disturbed him so much he began to suffer from PTSD.

From the National Center for PTSD:

PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) is a mental health problem that some people develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event, like combat, a natural disaster, a car accident, or sexual assault.

It’s normal to have upsetting memories, feel on edge, or have trouble sleeping after this type of event. At first, it may be hard to do normal daily activities, like go to work, go to school, or spend time with people you care about. But most people start to feel better after a few weeks or months.

If it’s been longer than a few months and you’re still having symptoms, you may have PTSD. For some people, PTSD symptoms may start later on, or they may come and go over time.

Anthony Blaine’s PTSD began to wreck his home life. It got so bad that his wife took their child and separated from him. It would take time, but PTSD can be treated.

There was one problem.

One of the symptoms of PTSD is dreaming of the traumatic event over and over again. Blaine dreamed of the event…. but he saw demons.

In our first issue the Devil Bat, slayer of demons, battles to save the life of a young woman kidnapped by a deadly cult. A cult whose mission is to sacrifice the girl to bring their ancient leader from the beyond! A history of The Devil Bat films. We look at vintage film press-kits, and part 1 of 666SS Devil’s Island. Meet The Monstrosities is here!

It’s Time to Meet the Monstrosities

Local artist creator Vance Capley steps away from the world of digital comics to go back to the wonderful world of printed comics with his new book "Meet the Monstrosities."

Columbia, TN, November 20, 2014 --( Artist Vance Capley has completed a brand new
comic book featuring his web comic characters, the Monstrosities.

The book, "Meet the Monstrosities," is 48 pages of single-panel gag strips written and illustrated in a ghoulishly fun Addams Family style.

The characters, H.P. Monstrosity and his bride Honey Wheelie Monstrosity along with their two children Moon Goon and Lil’ Squiddy, have been haunting the web comics scene since early 2009.

The creator, Vance Capley, has been doing art, including comics and graphic design, for over 20 years. Mr. Capley states, “I think the time is right for this to really take off. I’d love to see (the Monstrosities) in more comics or even in animation.”

He continued, "I also feel that it's time to return to the days of printed media. Most comic fans want the comic in their hands."

The book is scheduled for release Black Friday, November 28, 2014. It will be available at Previews are available at For more information you can contact Mr. Capley at

Free comics are a hard thing to do!

This is a very difficult thing to do.
That is, take work you've poured over for many years, hoping a publisher would by them (or at the least offer you work, and then give them away. It's hard, but not really a bad thing to do. In fact, in my case, I have work doing art and I am happy.
So now, these comics are just collecting dust.
Now, I present them, free to see, to you.
I enjoyed doing them and I hope you enjoy reading them.
